Turn The Page – Episode #324

In this special episode of 1337 Wine TV, I get the chance to interview Bryan Page of Page Wine Cellars and Rick Ramos or Alberico’s Fine Wine. After not recording an episode since the NYE show, and thinking I couldn’t equal the amazing interview with Brian Sullivan of Caduceus Cellars; along comes Bryan Page. The second person in a row that can qualify as one of the most interesting people I’ve met.

Through some fortunate circumstances, I had some time on a Friday evening to interview Bryan and Rick. While I do call these things conversations, I normally am able to get a word in edge-wise and steer the conversation. These two gentlemen have been friends for a decade and I was just along for the ride as they talked about their past, Bryan’s wine, Rick’s shop and restaurant, and tasted a little bit too. Let’s say things got a little bit crazy. Not quite a a Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride like at Disney, but close. The language is definitely “R Rated” in a few spots, so be aware. I did give the episode the “Explicit” tag in iTunes.

We tasted the 2011 Page Wine Cellars Proprietary Red and the 2012 Page Wine Cellars Furioso {6.1} Cabernet Franc. We also had a great dinner late which we talked about in the video. And yes, I really did have not one, but two bites of the first course (you’ll have to watch the show to see what that was). I can tell you I didn’t really like it, but I at least tried it.

Later in the night, Bryan and I ended up at Mi Tierra in El Mercado in downtown San Antonio to grab some appetizers, margaritas, and listen to some Mariachis. Bryan was a blast to hang out with and I hope to do it next time he is in town.
