So You Wanna Be A Video Podcaster Version 3 – Audio Equipment – Episode #420

Browse By

In this episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark covers various audio equipment you may use to create your video podcast. Good audio is as important as video, and maybe even more important. Just as in episode on camera equipment, Mark focuses on the equipment and not on audio editing.

Links for the show:

Audio-Technica ATR-6550 Video Camera Condenser Shotgun Microphone – This is the mic Mark has. He doesn’t use it very often, but it provides excellent sound quality. It does require batteries.

On Stage SB9600 Tripod Studio Boom Microphone Stand – Not mentioned in the video, but Mark also owns this boom mic stand. He rarely uses it, but if you are looking to use a boom mic closer to you and your talent, this is a good option. Very large, heavy, and not cheap, this will allow you to position a mic above you just like they do in the movies and on TV.

Neewer 3.5mm Hands Free Computer Clip on Mini Lapel Microphone – MAN! have these gone up in price! I bought this 5-pack in 2015 for $6.50 (that’s $1.30 per mic – a little more than the $0.99 per mic I remember). Looking around Amazon shows similar pricing to what this currently sells at. They’re good, but there may be cheaper options out there. These last a long time as mics, though the plastic clip can break.

Neewer Lavalier Recording Condenser Mic, Mini Hands Free Clip-on Lapel Compatible with Apple iPhone Android & Windows Smartphones – Basically the same mic, but can be used with smartphones and has a sturdier metal clip. I have a few of these and I remember these being cheaper too.

Comica XLR Microphone CVM-V02O 14.76 fts Phantom Power Omni-directional XLR Lavalier Lapel Microphone – This is the mic Mark uses with his Zoom H6. This version has a 15′ cable, there is a slightly cheaper version with a 6′ cable.

Azden WMS-PRO Wireless Microphone System – This is the same system Mark bought years ago. It’s not bad for a “budget” wireless system.

Tenergy TN141 2 Bay 9V Smart Charger with 4 pcs Centura Low Self-Discharge 9V NiMH Rechargeable Batteries – The link says it all.

Shure SM58-LC – A general workhorse mic. No cheap, but it’ll last you forever. Mark doesn’t own this one, but he knows it’s reputation.

ZOOM H1 Handy Portable Digital Recorder – So, the exact model Mark has is no longer made, but this link will take you too it on Amazon. You’ll see different color options and an option to get the new 2018 version. Back in the day it was $99, now it’s about $15 more.

Zoom H6 Six-Track Portable Recorder – This is the recorder Mark currently uses.

Podcast Themes – This is Mark Blasco’s site where he creates theme music. This is where 1337 Wine TV Mark bought his intro music.

ibaudio – One of countless places to buy music.

productiontrax – Another site for music, but you can also get sound effects here.
