Freestyle Fridays – Interviewing Andre Boada of Vino Cadre – Episode #79

Browse By

In this Freestyle Friday episode, I’m going back to doing a few interviews. As part of my coverage of the 2022 Texas Hill Country Winery Symposium, I sat down with Andre Boada, owner of VinoCadre. Andre acts as a consultant to wineries here in Texas. He also creates events at different wineries here in Texas and Sonoma along with private events for your business and even your home! I got to experience one of his events at Turtle Creek Olives and Vines, an up-and-coming winery in Kerrville a couple days before the Symposium. Come check out what he does and his thoughts on the Texas Wine Industry!

Info regarding minimums for the states mentioned. New York was the hardest to find and I had to search multiple sites for the actual current law:

Texas – H.B. No. 1957 – Passed 5/28/21 – Effective 2022 vintage

Texas – The law in plain English – Wine Business – Third Time’s the Charm: Texas Legislature Passes New Wine Labeling Law

New York – Find Law – New York Consolidated Laws, Alcoholic Beverage Control Law – ABC § 3. Definitions (updated 1/1/21)

Washington State – Washington State Legislature – Actual law (RCW 66.28.110) – Effective 2010 vintage

Oregon – Oregon Wine Board – Labeling Regulations

California – Cameron Hughes Winery (the best explanation of Cali’s percentages – Understanding the AVA: 75% Rule

California – Strike Kerr & Johns – Law firm in California that specializes in alcohol beverage law – Breaks down everything like the above site, but also has more specific labeling requirements for California wine – What Is in the Bottle Rules for California Appellations on Wine Labels

Federal law – TTB (the governmental body that regulates alcohol – formerly the ATF) – Wine Labeling: Appellation of Origin – All the laws regarding wine labeling at the Federal level

Federal law – TTB – American Viticultural Areas (AVAs)

Federal law – Code of Federal Regulations – Appellations of origin – Title 27 / Chapter 1 / Subchapter A / Subpart C / § 4.25 (the actual law if you’re feeling froggy)
