In this episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark reviews four wines from the Cantele Winery in Puglia (Apulia) Italy. These were kindly donated by my friend, Dr. Jeremy Parzen, in Austin. I review 4 wines here. First is the 2011 Chardonnay. Not a grape that comes to mind when thinking Italian wine, especially in Southern Italy. The next two are Negroamaros with one being the Salice Salentino Riserva (2010 and 2009 respectively – although the video says otherwise for the Riserva). The last wine is the 2010 Primitivo.
I had the reds a few days later and really enjoyed them. Even though I used a VacuVin to seal them, they felt like they had developed a bit more. I was also pairing it with some BBQ. The same BBQ I had paired with the Indian wines that I really didn’t like. A couple more days later, we had a lemon pasta dish and had the Chardonnay. Went very well with it.
